What is Custom Web Development?

Custom web development is the practice of building a website from the ground up using code, instead of relying on a template-based platform or no-code builder. The design, the structure, the content model, and the hosting stack are all chosen specifically for the business — not adapted from a generic theme. The result is a site the business owns end-to-end.

Why it matters

Templates and no-code builders make sense at zero to ten employees and zero revenue. They get you live in a week. But the moment your brand sharpens, your team grows, or your conversion math matters, the same platform that got you launched becomes the ceiling. You're paying performance, design, and velocity tax for someone else's idea of what a website should be. Custom is more work up front, less work over time. Your site moves at the speed of your strategy, not at the speed of your platform's roadmap.

How it works

A senior designer maps your goals, audience, and competition, then designs every page in Figma — flow, layout, copy hooks, the lot. Once you sign off, engineering builds it in a modern stack (Next.js or Astro, Sanity for content, Vercel or Cloudflare for hosting). The marketing team gets a content management system designed around how they actually work. Every page is custom-coded, every interaction is intentional. No template ceilings. No platform-specific quirks. When you want to add a new section, a new campaign, or a new product, your team ships it the same week.
